SMX cloud-based anti-spam service shuts spam out of Bay of Plenty District Health Board's network

Bay of Plenty District Health Board ICT Systems Manager, Grant Ardern, says spam had been a significant issue for the organisation for some time. Previous anti-spam and virus solutions were ineffective with the most recent solution - an outsourced mail scrubbing service - deleting bona fide messages but allowing spam to slip through.

"We knew we didn't want to maintain our own internal mail scrubbing [filtering] software, so we decided to trial the SMX service. We were delighted with the trial and quickly signed up for the service," Ardern says.

Now that the spam is not entering their network, not only are the 1200 email users happier but IT staff can focus their time on more important areas than investigating missing emails.

"Apart from delivering very high accuracy in identifying and scrubbing [filtering] spam and viruses, SMX has great user features such as the content management tools for creating whitelists and blacklists. The service is fast and easy to implement and the service has been great.

"I have no hesitation in recommending SMX as an outstanding mail scrubbing [filtering] service and being an excellent company to deal with," Grant Ardern said.
