New Zealand anti-spam and anti-virus company SMX Limited (SMX) has become one of a small number of IT companies to make the Deloitte Fast 50 list of high-growth New Zealand companies.
During 2009 SMX achieved year-on-year growth of 189.53 percent, which places the company 38th on the Deloite Fast 50 list and 237th in the Asia Pacific Technology Fast 500.
SMX Managing Director Jesse Ball says 2009 has been a strong growth year for SMX despite the lingering effects of the global recession.
“Internet usage continued to grow strongly – as has the volume of spam and the sophistication of virus attacks. Also good for us has been the growing acceptance of the Cloud computing model where organisations use both hardware and software resident ‘in the Cloud’ rather than having all their IT owned and operated on their own premises.”
Ball says the major growth focus for SMX is now offshore. During 2008 SMX signed a strategic reseller agreement with India’s largest IT services company, CMC, a subsidiary of the giant Tata Group. During 2009 highlights have included the launch of SMX into Australia with the opening of a data-centre in Melbourne, and the first sale into Japan with a similar reseller agreement with Japan’s fastest growing internet hosting provider Tsukaeru.net.
